First a short introduction, I am William Charles Hast II, don't use that last piece too often and most people call me Chuck.
I am married to a funny, crazy and entertaining lovely woman named Iliana, she is from Costa Rica, but she has had her American citizenship since July of 2001.
My professional training was a a pilot, which I did until I settled in Costa Rica (and met my wife) where I dedicated my self to the telecoms field due to legal restrictions on non-costarrican nationals flying commercially there.
Beyond flying aircraft, I have worked in the telecoms field installing in Costa Rica a wireless network linking the coffee bean collection points belonging to a coffee brokerage company, to the companies central servers so they could speed up the credit/payout process on the receipt of fresh beans. At that time I had my own small company in Costa Rica. In the early 90's we moved to Tampa, Florida where we have been ever since, I have since worked in the packet radio industry, working for one of the companies that I represented while living in Costa Rica. I left there and worked as a contractor until I was hired by Utility Partners to consult on wireless data for their utility customers. I was a contractor for 1 year and a employee for 9 ½ years until they had a downsizing which eliminated my job.
I went to work for XPONDR Corp doing RF tagging systems to control merchandise shrinkage (shop lifting) in high end stores. I was there for 2 years then I was offered a job by Emhart INEX now Emhart Glass, I took the job, and worked there for almost 2 years until downsizing got me again in August 09.
I am back out on the street, I am trying to revive my consulting business as I find that it is easier to deal with day to day changes on your own rather than depend on the whims of someone who does not know nor do the care what, who or how well you have done your work.
I am a Field Service Engineer, I am very used to travel, having been on the road as much as 90% of the time. I am even able to relocate for a project if needed as it is just my wife and I.
I do work in the following areas:
Wireless and WiFi.
Glass Bottle Inspection machines with specialization in Emhart Veritas ViM, ViB and ViC inspection machines. The ViB and ViC are visual inspection machines and the ViM is a rotating inspector. Of the 3 my specialization was in the ViM, but I work on all 3 machines.
As I have been working with visual inspection systems I became interested in security systems based on similar technology, I have been working with a Open Source product known as ZoneMinder. It has impressed me with the way the filters and tools work in managing the detection of motion in the Field of View of the cameras. I also do light electrical work, installation of wiring, receptacles, lighting and other electrical work.
